We do not operate as a licensed daycare or child care program. We specialize in giving each student individualized instruction through a small classroom setting in a nature-based environment with certified Early Childhood Educators. We offer educational services in nature-based education including agriculture and farming education for young children. We are a microschool operating from August-May from 8a-3p.

Nature

A nature preschool program uses the natural world to support dual goals that address both child development and conservation values. Here at The Eagle’s Nest , we focus on child development milestones while we help young children in exploring and learning in nature. We teach children to respect the environment and wildlife around us. We are a student-centered program in the Reggio Emilia Approach.

The Reggio Emilia Principles

When it comes to Reggio Emilia’s approach, there are seven guiding principles that differentiate and distinguish it from other child-centered approaches to education. These are:

  1. The child is capable of constructing their own learning

  2. Community is important and children learn by collaborating with their communities

  3. Humans are natural communicators and children should be encouraged to express themselves

  4. The environment is the third teacher and must be enriching and supportive

  5. Teachers are partners, nurturers and guides to children and help them explore their interests through projects

  6. A child’s learning must be documented

  7. Parental participation is vital
